David back's bio

I graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and cum laude from Harvard Law School, where I had teaching fellowships on the history and future of globalization under Professor Niall Ferguson and under former Harvard President and former US Treasury Secretary Larry Summers. I then received a full scholarship to pursue an MBA at Cambridge University’s Judge School of Business in the UK. I scored a perfect 180 on the LSAT, 760 out of 800 on the GMAT, and 1560 out of 1600 on the GRE.

Since 2007, I have worked with students to help them get into the law or business school that was right for them. I also helped them search for financial aid and scholarships. In those 16+ years, I have worked with over 50 happy clients. In 98% of cases, they went to a school that was a better fit for them than if they had not worked with me (one client has been dissatisfied in all that time).

Outside of counseling applicants to law and business school, I have a track record of success in entrepreneurship, venture capital, and private equity investing.

I co-founded Zoomcar, the first car rental company in India to focus on “western-style” rentals with no chauffeur. Zoomcar launched in February 2013 with 7 cars in Bangalore. The business now has over 40,000 vehicles in India, Egypt, Indonesia, and Vietnam and is about to IPO on NASDAQ.

I worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Co, as an investment manager at Goldman Sachs, and as a research analyst for the General Counsel of the Kauffman Foundation.

Until recently, I was one of the owners of the much-beloved 53 year-old Tattered Cover small chain of bookstores in my hometown of Denver, CO. I am also the editor of 365 Of The Wittiest, Most Cutting Insults From History, a page-a-day desk calendar sold to Barnes & Noble Publishing. It features insults from the likes of Winston Churchill, Mark Twain, Dorothy Parker, Voltaire, and even Gandhi and the Dalai Lama.
